Question
My 4 year old dog has kidney disease....her numbers are going higher and higher, although she is still a happy dog, eating and barking up a storm when someone comes to the house.Earlier today my vet mentioned about her "crashing" at the end.I was so upset I neglected to ask him what that meant, and now i can't reach him until he returns from vacation. Do you know what that means? Does that refer to "the end" of the disease?

Answer
Gail-

Crashing is a term used by vets/rescue workers to mean a multitude of different things. Some people mean it as the "end stage" as you said, some people will say it to imply a dog crashing as heart failure, seizuring, and their body shutting down.

I would certainly contact your vet for more of a clarification, as there is no way for me to define it without hearing it in the context he used.

Im sorry to hear your dog has kidney disease, and at such a young age. I hope he does well and responds to treatment.

Good luck!
