my chihuahua has a puffy or swollen vagina it almost looked like a thumb or penis it was black but now it is more like the rest of her mormal color and she is always licking it alot any help would be appreciated

Hi Peter,

If your dog has not been spayed, she may be entering her  estrus, or "heat" period soon. You can read more about this here:

It's during this time that your dog can become pregnant, so it's really important not to let your dog outside unattended, even in a fenced in yard! Male dogs will stop at nothing to get to a female dog in heat.

If your dog has been spayed, it's possible your dog has Vaginitis, and you should have her examined by your veterinarian.
