Chihuahuas problem walking

Question
I have a 9 lb Chihuahua (Sarge) that has developed something really crazy with his left him and leg.  When he walks it looks like something pops out of its socket but it does not seem to bother him.

He lets me rub his leg and and does not even flinch at all.  It does not seem to hurt him.   We had him neutered last year he was then 6 and since then he has put on a couple pounds.  My vet says he is a little over weight but not obese.

I know he needs to be seen by his vet but am wondering if waiting until the first of the month could make it worse.  I live on a fixed income.

Thank you for your time!

Answer
Hi Sharon
Im so very sorry for the delay. I had a bad fall walking ny raucous 6 mth old Sraffy and broke my foot in 4 places. ...its been a disaster all round.
So...little Sarge has a prob in back leg?  Sounds like he's dislocated it slightly so normal fluid movement is impaired.  Youre right that he needs to see vet but I also totally get fixed incomes!
Get him there asap for xray etc and in interim try to restrict movement even if not showing pain. Also try a lower calorie diet with boiled skinless turkey or chook (cheapest) and small amt of boiled rice. Recommend u split meals into 2 small, morning and night. Bout 1/4 cup each time.or if u feed kibble use mature low cal and follow their directions.
If Sarge has dislocated hip hell fair better with less weight and less weight helps stave off arthritis too and round injury site. These guys have fine delicate bones so injury can happen easily.
Youre on the right track and your vet will sort it for you upon examination.
Good luck hope it's nothing too serious
