QUESTION: I feed my 6 month oldchihuahua twice a day. I realise he drinks alot of water, should i let him drink unlimited amount of water or just twice day?

ANSWER: Hi MO...I have a little Chi , too.  Miss Priscilla is now 2 years old.
Let him drink water anytime.  Have it available to him in a few places..  Make sure at night you pick up the water dish around 7 or 8 PM.  That way he will not have accidents in the night time.

What kind of food are you feeding him.  Also, he should be eating 2 times per day.  Let me know the amount you are feeding and the brand.

QUESTION: I am feeding him the Nutro Natural Choice(small puppy bites)I don't measure the amount of food I give him. I place at least a handful of the food because he eats a little of food.

Since it's two times a day, what are the best times He should eat? I am new to this, can you give me a schedule when to feed him and how often I should take him out to potty?

Answer
The food you are feeding is fine. Please take him off of puppy food around 10 months old.  You can , at that time, feed him an adult chi food called "Royal Canine", only sold at pet stores or on-line.

We don't want your little chi to become overweight.  Many chi doggies get knee problems if they weight too much.  When you go into you VET of shots they will let you know how the weight is doing for his age.  Make sure he is offered a cup a day.  Just give small amounts into his food dish about 3 times per day.  ( You can feed 2-3 times per day)
**** Little Chi dogs can get low blood sugar if they are only fed once per day.  Also, a few low fat dog treats between meals will be good for this breed.*****


As for potty, make sure you offer him potty breaks every 2-3 hours, if possible.  When you are away, make sure he is in a crate/den or the kitchen area with a baby gate.  You can also put pee pee paper down for him.
