Jumping Up on People

Question
Our 5 mo. lab puppy jumps up on everyone she comes across.  We have tried short leash, telling her no, having her sit when they approach - but she jumps all over them and nips.  Is there a tried and true method of stopping this?  Her excitement level just goes over the top.
Thanks.

Answer
Consistently is very important in correcting jumping and other problems. Quickly correcting him each and every time he jumps on somebody is very important. He must never get the affection he wants. A number of things have been used including some negative things in the past.  As part of the the trend away from negative methods, encourage people to just step backwards leaving his front feet to fall to the floor. After a few tries, the dog may just stand there looking confused.  It is much easier to train a dog not to jump on you, than to teach people to use good techniques to keep him from jumping on them.  I am afraid there is no quick, easy way to do it.
