Dog Food

Question
I have 5 month old golden retiever and don't know how much to feed him.  I bought the 35lbs. bag, and how long should this last?  I will do the math if you tell me how many days...  thank you.

If it is a concentrated, meat based chow, about 3 cups total a day would be right.  It is unfortunate if you have just bought a 35 pound bag of puppy chow, about a months supply.  Switching to an adult chow for the larger breeds at 4 months, slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs.
