Jumping on kids / biting, scratching

Question
We have a beautiful blonde 6 month old Golden named Daisy.  She is generally a good girl.  She can "sit" and "come" fairly well.  She also knows "down" when I catch her jumping up.  However, Daisy is HORRIBLE about jumping all over my little kids (5, 3).  She jumps on the kids, steals their food (no surprise there), has scratched them, and my 5 year old has even reported being bit (not sure about that).  I am always close by. . . and if Daisy sees me, she will be more careful with the kids. . . but if she thinks I can't see her (turned back, screen door closed, etc) she will go right back to jumping all over them.  Daisy is taller than my kids when she jumps up, so it worries me.  I have tried to teach my kids to tell Daisy "down" and talked to them about not holding their hands over their heads . . . but nothing has worked so far and I am getting frustrated.  I also have a 1 year old that Daisy will walk right over to get to me.  Please help!!

Answer
A lot of what you describe (the jumping on people) is typical puppy behavior, obnoxious as it may be.

The food stealing is normal dog behavior, as well, since dogs are scavengers and opportunists.

However, all of these behaviors are obviously something that should be brought under control if a dog is to remain in the home and part of the family.

I'm including a number of documents that I suggest you read and implement into your daily behavior.  The children should also follow the suggestions, to the best of their ability.
