Question
Well my 5 year old golden retriever mixed with Pomeranian is shedding alot and some people tell me that the reason for the shedding is because of the food i am giving her so my question to you guys is as follows:  what type of food should I give my little girly doggy?  Is there any type of food that will help but that she may also really like; her favorites in dry food are chicken, cheese and beef.  Is there are food good for her similar to Kibbles N' Bits or Ol' Roy because she really likes them.

Answer
I really doubt it is the food.  All dogs shed a certain amount.  Brushing daily with a wire slicker brush may help.

If you want to try a different food, you could try Purina 1 or Iams.  Pro Plan may be easier to find in a chicken formula.  Many people claim the more expensive premium brands will reduce shedding, but I wouldn't count on it.  I think it is all speculation, marketing hype, and snoobery.  As for which one?  Take a dart to PetSmart, close your eyes and throw it.  I have heard good and bad reports on almost every brand there is.

Any food change you make, do so slowly, over at least a week.
