cryptorchidism

Question
Hi there!
Samson is my 10month old GSD. He's a healthy and lively puppy and I have not noitced anything abnormal about him. However, his testicles are still not showing. When he is excited, I can see them bulging by the side of his penis, but that's it. My friend told me that big breeds tend to develop much later. Could Samson be suffering from cryptorchidism?
Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi Natasha,  What is bulging near his penis is the glands that help him tie with a female.  The testicles are probably up in the abdomen.  He is a cryptorchid and at this point there is nothing you can really do except get him neutered.  They won't come down after 6-8 months of age.  Hope this helps,
