Our German Sheperd Reese

Question
Our German Shepherd Reese is the sweetest thing you will ever meet, we got her when she was about 3 months old for our daughter who was living in an apartment by herself @ college, the apartment was to small she started eating it (the apartment)  so we brought her back home and now she is 2 years old. We had started noticing that she hated loud noises, my husband and son-in-law would shoot skeet and she would go to our back bathroom till they stopped. Evertime there is a thunderstorm she also goes to our bathroom, but yesterday July 2nd i came home for lunch (she is an inside dog) and it was raining pretty hard we do not have gutters and the rain was pouring in one spot off the roof pretty hard, and just small thunder. I opened the door to let her go outside and she just stayed on the porch then turned around and wanted back in so i let her back in and stayed outside with my other dog which is a shitzu, when i walked back in the house she was in a full seizure on the floor by this point i am beside myself, i am trying to help her which i know there is nothing that you can do, when she came out of the seizure she had this wild look in her eyes, she was drooling @ the mouth and the hair on her back was straight up, i tried to pet her and she growled and snapped @ me, well this sent me and my other dog out on the porch and i called some people that i work with they came and got her and took her to the vet, by the time they got there she was her old sweet self. The vet told me that the first time he looked at her he know that it was a stress seizure he called it more of an epileptic  seizure brought on by stress, and gave her some pills to knock her out during storms every since then she has been pacing back and forth. I worry about my little dog being her with her during the day and her having one,  and her hurting him. My husband says that it's her hearing that it  is so sensitive, do you think this is right or do i have a psycho dog? We love her so much and she is pretty much spoiled it would kill me if we had to give her up, but i have to think about my little dog and i also have a new grandbaby. This might have been a 1 shot deal and it never happens again, but i don't want to take that chance.
Please let me know what you think
Thanks
Tammy Henry

Answer
Dogs that are not exposed to noise and other things between 6-12 weeks become increasing unable to tolerate it as they approach maturity at 3 years old.  Go ahead and use the medication from the vet as needed.

It is possible better leadership from you might help.  Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog.  Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones.  You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
