Question
QUESTION: what shampoo do you recommend for cockers? and how much should he be eating at this stage?

ANSWER: Any gentle dog shampoo will do unless he has skin problems. How often are you bathing?

How much he should be eating depends on what you're feeding him.
And hopefully that's not an all kibble diet?  I'm happy to recommend foods.

QUESTION: I give him addiction (venison) and every now and then
we feed him sojos.
&
I bathe him every 9-10 days

ANSWER: Unless he's actually really dirty, you shouldn't bath him too much.
Try going to every 3 weeks.

Congratulations on choosing excellent foods.  I especially like the grain free raw, dehydrated Addiction - be sure and use several proteins...don't just stick with one (like Venison).

Sojo's Complete is also great but the one flaw is not quite enough protein so I always add a bit of boiled chicken (no skin), 1/2 cup of cooked eggwhite, or some "no salt" cottage cheese.

Now, how much should he eat?  He's 11 months and is just finishing a massive growthspurt and I need to know how much he weighs now to be accurate.  It also depends on how much exercise he gets - and can you easily feel his ribs.

QUESTION: He weighs about 27lbs.
He gets plenty of playtime with my energetic sister and
I take him out on at least one 30 minute walk everyday
( if not 2 walks when he doesn't see my sister)
His ribs can be felt and not easily seen.

One more question ... I bathe him that often bcuz he
stinks up real quick. That's why I inquired about the
shampoo since the oatmeal one doesn't seem to cut it.
Thanks

Answer
At 27 lbs at 11 months he's going to be a big boy.  He needs more than one half-hour walk a day.  A tired dog is a good dog :).

Re food - I need to know exactly what you're feeding.  Is it the Venison kibble or is it the raw, dehydrated Addiction?  There are feeding guidelines on the food - but each dog is different and has a different metabolism.  So these are just a guide and not written in stone.

Try a different shampoo and be sure you rinse-rinse-rinse.  You may not be rinsing well enough.  And what kind of odor is it?  Is his coat oily...dry..any flakiness?  Is he itchy at all?
