How much should she be eating

Question
I have a sable colored cocker who is a year and half, very active, very hyper. I am now feeling like I am not feeding her enough. My 14 year old cocker who passed away at 14 was over weight so I am trying to be careful. In the morning, her stomach is always growling. i feed her 1/2 a cup twice a day of the Nutro food. So that is one cup total. Is this enough??? How do I know. She always seems hungry.

Answer
No, you're not feeding enough and you're feeding a not-so-great food.

On the food bag you'll see Feeding Guidelines which are just a "guide" - not absolute law :)

I'd strongly suggest switching to a better food (and will be happy to suggest something that will work with your budget).  You'll find with a premium food that you will be advised to feed less because it's more nutritious.

But what you're feeding now is half of what she should be getting.  So up the amount right away and give her a tiny bedtime snack.

And a lot of "hyper" behavior is due to a lack of exercise and dogs need exercise.
