QuestionWe have an adorable 15 wk boxer. She has been wonderful - though hard to housebreak. A few things I would like to ask. She continually chews at the end of her tail where it was docked. The vet sees nothing wrong with it. Should I assume that it is because it is still healing? She is very friendly - but part of her play is to bite at us. We tell her no in a stern voice and try to walk away. She just charges after you - bites/nips at your feet, pants leg - anything. She has bit and drawn blood from all of us at some point. I hate to say she is biting because I know she is doing puppy play - but her puppy teeth are like sharp needles! Will this just stop with time?
AnswerThe tail should be healed by now but may still be bothering her - sometimes the bone is right at the end of the tail. I'd keep an eye on that because you don't want her damaging the tail - and if it's causing her pain or discomfort, you may need to have it re-docked at some point.
The biting is definitely puppy play, but you do need to teach her to inhibit her bite. There's a very good article on this, so I won't try to reiterate what it says!

She's also teething or will be soon, so be sure to provide her with lots of safe, appropriate chew toys; you can also redirect her to a soft toy whenever she starts biting you - I have one I did this with and now whenever she gets excited she'll run and grab a toy. :)
Good luck!
