cyst

hello, i just recently brought a boxer home, she is 3 years old and the most amazing dog ive ever had. i am not sure how long shes had it but she has a cyst on the top of her head about the size of a dime it doesnt seem to bother her. i dont want to jump to conclusions but i dont want to get my heart broken she is my baby. also ive heard boxers are common dogs to get cancer...please help

Hi Hilary,

Cancer is common for Boxers, yes, but don't let that scare you.  They are also prone to acne, hives and miscellaneous skin nasties.  :)

Take her to a vet.  She needs to have it looked at (if it's a cyst, the vet should be able to tell by sight and manipulation) and diagnosed properly.  

I have one Boxer that's had a cyst on his toe for years...shrinks, grows, pops, shrinks, grows, pops...so on.  One that had a small growth on her side for about 3 years before it disappeared.  My mutt had a cyst on his head that I ended up getting rid of after it popped on it's own.  :)  Hopefully some of that will calm your nerves a bit.
