Puppy with worms

Hello, We just recently got a puppy, he is a pit about 14wks old. I noticed this morning he has worms in his feces. I purchased a 7 in 1 shot and I am wondering if this will rid him on the worms. Thanks in advance.

Hi Amanda,

Vaccinations don't address intestinal worms.  You will need to visit a vet with a stool sample, to determine which type of worm he has, as this will determine which wormer you will need to use.

You mention you just got him recently - if it was within about a week to ten days, and he was given a wormer before he left the place where you got him, then this may be normal.  Wormers lead to the dog shedding worms in the stool.  You would still need to follow up with the vet, though, with a stool sample to be sure that additional doses of wormer are not necessary.
