Question
Any suggestions on getting a 9 week old puppy (or older also) to poop outside when raining. my puppy has been doing very well. I thought you may have some advice on this topic. Thanks.

Answer
It is normal for any aged dog to not want to go outside when raining. They will hold it- however, a puppy won't and have an accident in the house.

I have an 8 year old that will not go out in the rain and is afraid of the sounds of rain, lightening and thunder.

The only thing you can try is an awning over the area you want the puppy to pee and poop- or, if you cannot afford to do that, try mounting a patio table umbrella in the ground (securely- concreted, etc.) at the pee/poop area, or use an umbrella as you take the puppy out and hold the umbrella over him.

If all else fails, you can purchase an indoor grass-turf potty. You've probably seen them advertise. They can cost approx. $30 and great for those raining days. I used a few of them for my young litter of seven. They learned to pee/poop on it when inside. It is easy enough to clean: empty and wash the base and the grass which is removeabe.
