Question
I have two 14 week old pups. They are brother and sister and are forever fighting. Our male has now developed a hard lump in one of his ears as a result. I suspect that this is a blood clot and I am taking him to the vet to get it checked out. My question is how do I stop the ear biting problem, I think it's one of the most endearing qualities a beagle has and I don't want my pups to be disfigured.

Answer
One pup should stop the other pup from biting their ear if it is biting to hard. You may want to ask your vet about this when you take him in.
You may also want to try getting a spray bottle filled with water. If one is biting to hard and rough spray just that pup if you can and say "No bite".
Also, you can separate them for a few minutes if it gets to rough and say "No bite". They will learn that will lose their playmate if they bite.
Be sure to give them lots of toys and chew toys to play with. When they bite one another tell them No and give them a toy to bite.
Like I said puppies usually stop one another if it gets to rough.
