Is she grooming or just playing with her food?

Question
I want my rabbit kits and cat to socialize.  When my 11 month old spayed cat is in bed I place one or two 5 week old kits on her.  She begins to lick them.  After a while she starts to bite them.  Of course I take the kits away at that point.  She does the same when she licks my hand.  Some times it's hard enough that I have to stop her.  Do cats bite their babies when grooming them?

I don't want the kits to get used to the cat if she might end up eating them.

Answer
Dear Tom

Thank you for your question.
I would never leave your cat and rabbit alone, because you never predict what may happened.

Cat has very thought tongues and are very rough.  Your cat is is probably groom in a social context and nipping is part on the grooming.  As long as your cat doesn't get aggressive or to forceful, then I would continue with the socialisation between your pets.

Kind Regards
