caring for my pregnant cat

Question
hi,i used to have about 26 adult persian cats last year wich we didnt take care of them alot and they were all kept in one smelly room in the basement. About every 2 months a litter is born , and when they are ready to leave thier mom, we sold them. But because we didnt take care of them most of them were scared of people , and alot of the kittens were dieing and it was awfull. so my parent made me give them all away and keep only two adult cats one male and one female, so they could be free in the house, not stuck in the basement. And now the female cat is pregnant , and we dont want to get troubled with the kittens like last year. so the after the kittens are born we want to spay and neuter them all. And they are going to live here for the rest of thier life. so i want them to be healthy and well cared for. Can you please tell me what i need to know about the kittens so they could be healthy and happy. Am i sopposed to leave the mother cat with her kittens in a room alone, without the father till they grow up?

thanks alot.

Answer
yeah it is a good idea to leave the mother and kittens alone till they get older. What you can do is supervise the birth and make sure all the kittens are ok. then interact with them the next six weeks. they wont be scared of humans. after six weeks they should be weened off their mothers milk and should be eating can food and gradually dry food.
