treatment for illness after receiving shots

Question
Hi Lisa,
I have two ragdoll male kitties.  Sam is 3 years old, and Ben is 2.  I took Sam to a new Vet yesterday to get his annual shots and, while I was there, I talked with the Vet about Ben.  When Ben gets his shots, he is sick for about 24 to 48 hours afterwards.  He meows and won't eat and throws up everything.  I told this Vet that I would like her to give him one shot at a time to see which shot is making him sick.  She suggested that Ben get a steroid shot before his annual shots and that should take care of any sickness and that she could give him all the shots at once.  Since I really don't know this Vet, I was wondering if you feel that giving a kitty a steroid shot is safe.  Do you think it's safe for a Ragdoll?  I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Marcia

Answer
well everything i can find on the internet about steroid shots for cats basically says it is to calm them down..make them mellow sorta. i dont see any harm in it really. if i were you i would call around to other vets and ask them exactly what a steroid shot does for a cat. get a few opinions before you do it.
