QuestionI adopted 2 cats around Christmas time from a shelter. The shelter told me both cats were female with the older one already spayed. Well it seems to me that the younger one, just over a year old, appears to be a male. How can I tell for sure? It has, for lack of a better word, what looks like small balls unders it's tail beneath it's butt hole. Is this a male cat?
AnswerLori,
Yes, it sounds as if it could be. However, truthfully, without pictures, it is hard to tell just from a description. To be absolutely sure, next time you go to the vet, have the vet check the cat to see if it is a male or a female.
However, once they are neutered or spayed, it really should not make any difference.
If it does turn out to be a male, it soiunds as if your shelter needs a lesson in basic external feline anatomy.
