length of heat

my cat just went into heat,   i have an appointment in 3 weeks to get her fixed, and i want to know how long will this heat period last? and can i calm her down at all?

Hi Jai,

Cats are usually in heat about 3 weeks. You should be fine. As for calming her down, she wants to mate. Her stress levels are pretty high right now. You can try a product called Feliway. It might help. Otherwise the best you can do is just keep an eye on her so she doesn't try to get out. Good luck.
