Cat left behind while on vacation

Question
We have a 7 month old kitten.  We are going on vacation for a week and I need to know if it would be better to leave him at home alone (with someone coming in every day to give him food and water) or take him to my daughter's house to stay?  I'm not sure if being alone or in a strange house is worse?

Answer
i do freelance petsitting- and i also work at an animal hospital whose services include boarding.  from my subsequent experiences, the cats who i watch in their homes are much more relaxed and comfortable- and also much less likely to catch minor but highly contageous diseases such as colds.  my advice- leave your cat home, hire or volunteer someone you trust to look after him, and enjoy your vacation!
