Pregnant manx kitty....

Question
PLEASE HELP!
I have a 13 month old manx kitty.  She (Chloe) is pregnant, well that is what I am guessing.  She is very moody, won't let you pet her hind end, and whines when you hold her.  She seems comfortable other then that though!  She has been eating tons, and sleeping the other 23 1/2 hours that she isn't eating! LOL.  I have no idea when she is due.  And, I have never had a pregnant cat.  I have no idea what to expect.  She is scheduled to go into the vet to be spayed.  I told my vet that I was pretty sure she was pregnant....they told me to "just bring her in, and we will take care of it".  I am assuming that they meant they would abort her.  Is there any risk for Chloe after they do something like that?  I told them I wasn't too fond of aborting her babies....they said, well there are plenty of cats out there....couldn't beleive it!  I would like to let her have the babies, and adopt them out,...but I am really scared!  I had a friend who had a female cat that was also 13 months old, and had a litter, then ate some of her own kittens, and then just ran away.  HELP!  ANY advice is helpful....

Answer
Hi Jessica,

Just to make sure, was Chloe in heat and did she get out? If you don't know the answers to those questions you need to get her to the vet to be checked. She may have something else wrong with her.

If she is pregnant and you want to go ahead with the spay, then go ahead. There is very little risk to her. Your vet was a little blunt about your cat having kittens but it's just a very hard fact. There are a lot of kittens out there that need homes.

If your vet says she is pregnant and you want her to have a litter, write back and I'll help you with what I know. Good luck.
