Answer
Janet,

To answer your last question first.  If the second batch of kittens is weaned, you might trap the mom and have her spayed.  At this time the cycle will be broken.  If she has now become dependent on you for feeding, would it not be a bit cruel to suddenly cut off her food source?

As to the two boy kittens you are keeping.  You can treat for fleas and keep them in the garage for about a month, after which they can be re-treated and then moved to the bed room, if you like, thus avoiding any flea infestation.

Any decent brand of cat litter in a litter pan will do.  There are many, many choices on the market, today.  I would avoid clumping litter with kittens and long haired cats.  It should be in a place where they have easy access.  I would keep their food and water well away from the litter pan location.  We usually put the food and water dishes in the same area.

I would provide a sturdy exercise post (tall enough so that they can stretch out full length on their hind tippy toes and extend their front legs over their heads to scratch).  A 4" X 4" post on a sturdy base wrapped in closed loop carpet and/or sisal rope with a cubby hole and/or shelf is a good start.  Spraying the post with catnip spray makes it even more attractive.

I hope that this is helpful.

Best regards... Norm.
