weasing

i have two cats a female and a male the male is in heat my female is fixed he chases her around all the time then she finally will get away she will make this coughing/weasing noise.She's about 5 yrs old and is overweight do you think that's the reason why? or is it more serious?

Well, first of all male cats can not go into heat at least not as far a s I know.  It could be because of her being overweight, as matter of fact I am pretty sure it is because of her weight.  Is the male neutered?  If not I would suggest doing so, that way he would stop going into "heat"
