Question
I noticed a soft, large protrusion on my cats front left paw this morning, a little larger than a quarter and about 1/4 of an inch high.  it is movable and when touched does not seem to hurt her.  My main concern is whether this could be a poisonous bite, say from a spider.  I noticed it for the first time this morning.  Plannning on taking her to the vet, but should/could I wait until Saturday?

Answer
Doris,

I am not sure what area you live in and therefore I am not able to comment on the possibility of spiders, snakes and other possible poisonous causes of this. I would not wait to take her to the vet. If this kitty has an abscess it is very painful and for her health should be treated as soon as you can take her to the vet. I would say that in this case this kitty should see a vet in 24 hours or less if you can swing it. If this is an abscess she may need surgery, antibiotics and special care for a few days or more. Please let me know how things turn out. I hope all goes well. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
