why oh why isnt my cat putting on weight where i can see it, shes well fed and quite heavy but shes due kittens in about 12 days time, i can feel a little movement inside her, and her tummys really firm and chubby but shes not popping out the sides like other cats do when they have kittens is she really ok

Cats carry anywhere from one to eight or more kittens when pregnant.  Like people, cats can carry their kittens high or low.  These two factors may determine how much or how little they may be showing.  I have seen females who get rather huge have only one kitten and females who barely show have three or four.

If you are worried about her, a veterinary visit would be in order for a pre-natal check up.  When at the vet's you can make arrangements for what you may have to do should she run into trouble, especially after office hours.
