Fighting after neuter

We have 2 cats male and female who just had a litter. We had our male neutered and took him back home today. Since he has come home our female has been very territorial and attacking him. Why is this happening and is there anything we can do about it?

This sounds to me like something called aggression trauma. basically your male cat has come home smelling differently ie of the vets and this has frightened your female cat. it is a common issue.

basically what needs to happen is for their confidence in each other be rebuilt. this needs to be done in a slow and calm way.

Perhaps keeping the male separate from her and the litter for a few days with a couple of visits to him with him in a cage. this prevents any fear of aggression etc and helps to rebuild their relationship. The process is described further here
