Answer
Hey there!

Your cat sounds like he may have worms. A cat who has worms is generally "skinny", regardless of how much he eats.. Have you noticed any abnormalities in his stool? Blood, mucus, discoloration, worms, etc.. or any difficulties in the way he uses the bathroom?

Defecating around the house could be linked to parasites, as well. Usually if a cat makes a sudden change in behavior, it means he has a health problem.

I think a vet trip could solve some, if not all, of your cats' problems.
So, my suggestion is to take a small stool sample...put it in a plastic container...put your cat in a carrier...and head off to the vet :)
He can give you dewormer (or other medications he sees fit), which will kill any parasites or worms living inside your cat. The vet can also test and see if there are any other problems that could be causing him to "go" all over.

I hope this all gets cleared up.... :)
