Male biting female

Question
I have 2 Persian Kittens. An 8 month old female & a 6 month old male from different litters. I 'am planning on breeding them when they are older however... My female has not come into heat yet and the male is constantly trying to mount her and biting her on the back of her neck causing her to scream in pain. Weve just been squirting him with water, but do you have any info or ideas to stop this behavior, or is it even damaging? Thankyou Charlotte

Answer
Hi Charlotte

It may be a good idea to separate them at least for a while as if he continues to do this, when she does come into season she may remember and not want him near her.  Of course he may mean nothing much in it, but of course I'm not seeing the stance, and it may just be normal kitten play that your girl isn't appreciating, but it may be practicising.  It won't be long anyway before he needs his own separate living quarters.
