Question
hi,
I am planning to buy a himalayan kitten, and found a cattery that will sell me a himalayan kitten, claiming that the the mother is a flat-face himalayan, and the father is a doll-face himalayan. so my question is: Is it possible that a male and female himalayan cats can reproduce himalayan breed kittens?? because according to my knowledge, himalayans are a mixed persian-siamese breed.

thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Blaze
Originally to produce a Himalayan (Hi) cat you crossed a Persian with a Siamese. So your knowledge is correct in part. But that cross produced the first kittens. Since then breeding Hi to Hi has produced true Hi so there is no need for the outcross anymore.

What you read about was the origin of the breed not its current status, does that make sense
