Pregnant queen calling

13:38:50

Question
Our 4 year old queen (not a first time mother but we have only recently acquired her) was mated on the 20th April and for 3 days afterwards.
She did not come back into heat and her nipples are pinkish but not red. She appears to have put on weight and has 'saddle bags'..  Her behaviour has been more affectionate towards me as normally she is not like that.
She is due approximately on the 22 June but today she has started calling and rolling around to attract the attention of the stud cat.
Does this mean she is not pregnant or is it perhaps a hormonal thing ?
Your advice greatly appreciated please !

Answer
Dear Lucille

It is possible for a cat to have a 'break through' call but usually earlier than this.  You should be able to see the nipples as a lot larger then they were before mating but the fact that they are only pinkish could mean that she is not pregnant. You are now coming to the time when you should see and feel the kittens moving which usually happens in the last two weeks of pregnancy so if you can't feel them then I would suggest a visit to the vet to see if any kittens can be felt.

If she is only having 1 kitten you may not even be able to detect a kitten moving and I have had to wait until nearly the due date before being sure we have a kitten.

My feeling is that she may not be pregnant but I would not put her back with the stud until she has been checked by a vet.
