QuestionAmost a year ago we got two kittens. Sadly, about 3 months ago, one died
with FIP. We tested the other one and found him to be a carrier of the Carona
virus. The vet said not to get another cat, but if we had to, (and we did) to
wait till the kitten to be was about 3 months old and he should no contract
the virus. So all that to tell you the problem. Our new kitten we have had for
almost a month. For the past 3-4 Days he has been sooo lazy. He doesn't
play hardly anymore, and his coat looks awful. He still eats twice a day and
has dry food throughout the day. He drinks plenty and has normal bathroom
visits. When i pick him up he feels really warm, so i guess he has a fever. I
am just wondering if he could have something else besides FIP. He cleans
himself and everything. He just isn't playing like a 4 month old kitten boy is
supposed to play. :(
AnswerIt is certainly possible that he could have another virus, which are very common in kittens. A host of viral respiratory diseases can cause lethargy, fever and other symptoms. So yes I would say that it is possible to be something other than FIP. If he has not improved or stops eating/drinking I would suggest having him seen by your veterinarian.
Best of luck to you and your feline friend.
