Please help my cat!

My cat is having a problem with throwing up. He keeps acting like he will but the then acts like he swallowed it. He has also lost his meow, opening his mouth but nothing coming out. I tried feeding him butter to lubricate his throat but to no avail. I also tried starving him for a day and then feeding him boiled chicken (my book told me to do so) but this has not worked. Is this serious or can I treat this at home? My cat is one year, seven months old approximate and has had one vaccination (my dad missed the second one). He is not been de-sexed and he has short fur.

Butter isn't going to do anything to help your cat. At one year old he should have had at least three vaccinations and a rabies shot, although I am not sure they give those in the UK.
However, your cat sounds like he has a virus and he needs to see a vet.He could also have something in his tonsils, or stuck in his teeth. We have seen cats with bird legs half way down their throat doing exactly what you cat is doing. Trying to swallow, then gagging.

He also needs to be neutered and this is the perfect age to do so.
Take him in for his throat issue and make an appointment to get him neutered once he is well.

Get him in tomorrow to see the vet. Don't wait any longer.
