Fish are dying, need help

Question
Hi Scott,
My tank is 3 months old. Have been working with local pet store on the "how to's" and now several fish are dead. They told me some things but not everything. I see my mistakes now. Can you recomend a book that will tell me most of the "how to's" of salt water fish? With maybe trouble shooting section? Lost a tang, coral beauty and a hawk fish in 3 days. Salt got low with water change. Didn't know to add more salt. Also, need info on testing so I can do it myself. 2 pet shops here are both telling me different things. Thanks,
Ursula

Answer
Ursula,
One of the better books on the market right now for novice hobbyists is The Conscientious Marine Hobbyist by Bob Fenner.  It's current and full of everything you'll need to know to be successful in the hobby.  Additional information on this book can be found via our online catalog at www.aquariumcrazyfish.com

As for testing, I recommend the Fastest test kits by Aquarium Systems.  The master test kit has all the basics, Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite and pH.

Best of luck with your tank!

Scott Johnson
