Question
Hope you can help me with this one.

There is a shallow lake behind my house.  from the lake to my front yard is about 200 feet.  from the lake to the front is a grade of about45 degrees.

i would like to pump water to my yard for watering it in the hot weather.

i would guess i would use a sump pump but not certain.  Also I have no idea how many hp the moter would have to be.

thanks

Answer
John, a third, half or three quarter will work. A sump pump
has an inch and 1 quarter outlet. reduce that down to a half inch garden hose and the pressure will water the neighbors lawn  across the road. I would settle for half, when in doubt go for middle on the road. BUT be sure to get a submersible pump. Column pumps are cheaper but they only give you aggrevation.
