very small tiny worms in pond

Question
I have a preformed 300 gallon pond with 24 gold fish in it. I have a 1300 gallon an hour UV light pump that goes into a 45 gallon barrel full of filter stuff to filter the water. I have a problem with string algae and I noticed in the algae little tiny worms in my hand when I pulled the algae. are these worms supposed to be there as part of the eco system or not.I also want to know if a 9 volt UV light is big enough for the pond. Thank you for your time in this matter.

Answer
The worm-like creatures are either insect larvae or actual worms.  Whatever they are, unless they are harmful to humans in their adult form, you shouldn't worry about them unless they start clogging your filter.

So the pump and ultraviolet bulb are one unit?
