Question
Hi when i emailed you about the killifish I also emailed two other members of AllExperts.com unlike your respone they both said to use a medication. Since your amount of experience bluffs there own I'm going to have to go with your respone as I have in the past. Firstly if my fish is sick should cycle and stress coat cure him? Also I have this vitamin rich formula made from multiple types of seaweed. It is made for humans, but do you think it would be a healthy vitamin rich thing to add to the fish food? Also do you believe a Single  Red Turquise Discus could live in a 45 gallon tank with 3 cory cat fish 2 german blue ram 1 rainbow fish 1 gourami 1 small pleco 1 1 dwarf frog 1 killifish and either mr. i eat small fish goby or if he gos bye bye a few neons and fancy guppies?

Answer
Hi Lou,
I do remember talking to you before. Thanks for taking a chance with my radical new system of fish care. From my experience, the chemical treatments never helped, the fish died anyway. The best thing is to cut back on food. That prevents water pollution and the fish heal naturally. I have the same cure for cancer, heart disease, etc. - quit putting in bad substances, detox, prevent disease. Anyway, that's another subject. I guess you could call this wholistic fish tank care.
Just use a small amount of Stress Coat, as described at Steamboats.com/aquarium.html. If the fish swims to the top, drizzle some directly on him. It's an aloe vera formula. If he will not come to the top, don't bother putting it in. It can also cloud the tank. Cycle and less pollution is the basis of my system. Do not attempt to catch him or touch him, as that would cancel any benefit from the Stress Coat treatment.
You can try the vitamin formula. Since it is food based, remember that  a little goes a long way.
As for the mix of fish, sounds good. Be aware that the plecto can grow to be about 12 inches long. If you can provide hiding places, the tank should be fine until the plecto grows too large. Wait to introduce any new fish until the current situation is cleared up.
Get to know the people at the aquarium store for what fixh can live together. Also remember that long timers can get territorial. My plecto would kill whatever I put in the tank because for a long time I had him in a too small space. He was fine with the neon tetra until it died of old age. After that I tried to put other fish, but he was not happy about it.
Hope all goes well . . . write back if you want to discuss further.
