Temperature for cycling?

Question
Hi Karen,
I was just wondering if temperature has an effect on the cycling process?  If I turn my heater up or down will it cause the bacteria to multiply faster or slower?  I'm currently cycling a new 35 gallon tank with food.  The ammonia is up to 2-3 ppm and has been for about a week.  No sign of nitrites yet.  The temp is currently set at 77-78 degrees.  Let me know what you think.  As always, thank you for sharing your time and experience.

Answer
Hi Matt,
This is relatively a simple answer--the good bacteria will multiply faster if the water is warmer, and will be much slower in their growth if the water is cooler and of course cycling takes longer. The temperature you have right now (77-78 Degrees) is just about perfect for good bacterial growth.

You are doing an excellent job so far and I'm glad you are 'fishless' cycling too!
Keep up the good work and I hope this helps!
Karen~
