I have a 20 year old synodontis catfish in estabished 65 gal.tank. A few days ago I noticed his abdomen swelling.  It is not improving and his breathing is rapid and appetite deceased. Possibly ingested algea disk(s)- everything else normal.  Am desparate for possible treatment options!!

sorry to hear your problem, any other symptoms that he's having. could be alot of different things, internal ruptures are common, or cysts... could be a dropsy symptom..

see if your fish looks or has any of those symptoms...

that's the best i can do for you at this point, some epson salt would hurt to treat him with .. or melafix.
