Question
Heyyyyyyy dave,  I don't need help just want your opinion. I'm, 58 and had an aquarium from age 12 up to 53 when I just got bored with it and sold all 7 tanks. This past christmas 2007, (actual date was dec 3 )my son (30) decided I looked naked without a tank in the house. So he showed up with a wave 75 and all the needs. "Well thanks Junior". What that cost him, $600? So here I am again. Yeh the same wayne with the Java ferns. Anyway, years ago I had a habit of doing things that my local fish guy says won't work. He's always telling me I can't do what I want. My dilema is, I absolutely, possitively MUST have Angel fish. Big ones. So since xmas I got the wood, plants and trimmings in and went thru the week of cloudy and all that fun. Put in a few Tiger Barbs just to get it going. And 2 gourami. And a pink Tilipia. Then, since my son is heavy into Africans with a 250 gallon, he gave me 2 Peacock Cichlids. Then his friend gave me some cichlid with a blue face & multi-colored body. And I bought 3 yellow Labs. They all are just having lots of fun. My tank is, as always in perfect condition. So now I want my favorite fish, the Angels. My fish guy has 3 marble, silver Angels with lots of orange on top. Full grown at 10". He is holding them for me for a week or so. What is your opinion on how they will get along with the Cichlids? My son thought the Africans would for sure kill the Gouramis but they get along fine. The Africans are nice looking I must admit. But Angels may be too sensitive. Although they themsleves have Cichlid roots. My son says "no way dad". The fish guy does too. He said, "wayne you're at it again but its your money. You never listened to me before." Well years ago I had Dempseys, Geophagus, Discus, Severums and huge Angels all in the same 100. So why can't Angels go with Africans? Your opinion?  Yeh I'll probably do it anyway its my $$$$$.

Answer
well Wayne... the deal is this... angels are cichlids... besides the African and other cichlids are bottom dwellers and the angels are midlevel fish... big angels can take care of themselves so I say why not... just keep your eye on them as they are all very territorial... dave
