thanks for your help, i added the  new gravel, but what i did was i got an extra smaller tank and then i put my fish in the small tank, then i cleaned the big tank and then added the new gravel. it looks great, my fish looks happy. i recently bort a golden gourami, could you maybe tell me a little about this tropical fish?

Hello... Golden gourami are labyrinth fish... like the betta they can breath atmospheric air and also take air from the water.  They are usually middle level tank dwelling fish that are slow and methodical swimmers.  They can be aggressive so keep your eye on him.  They love live food too.   dave
