Answer
Hi Lezzane,

Unfortunately, you will have to find a new home for your lone goldfish. Goldfish grow to over 10", and must have at least a 20 gallon aquarium. If you want to keep goldfish, then you will need to buy a larger aquarium. The reason why Goldfish cannot be kept in a small aquarium are that the Goldfish produce lots of waste, and the waste will become toxic in a tiny aquarium, especially one wthout a filter. Their size is also a factor, because when they get to any more than 5", they wouldn't fit into a small aquarium. You may be thinking, "My Goldfish has survived so far, and is healthy, so I don't need a bigger tank".

That's not true, because in a small tank, they will live for about a few months. Their health will rapidly deteriorate, and their lifespan will be under a year. In comparison, healthy goldfish live to about 25 years!
I suggest that you return the Goldfish or give it away, and get a Betta fish. These Bettas are available at any fish store, and are extremely hardy. They are probably the only fish that will work well with a 14 liter tank. Bettas are attractive, and will survive many beginners' mistakes.

Good luck, and Happy Fishkeeping!
