setting up a african cichlid tank

Hello. My family and I will be moving into a bigger house in a coulpe of months, and we would like to install a 100-150 gallon freshwater African cichlid aquarium in the wall. Questions:
1. is this a good idea?
2. any good recomendations on compatable african cichlids?
3. would you recomend a sump?
4. is sand or gravel better?
5. any other comments, advice is wanted
