Beta with Seizures?

My beta seems quite healthy & happy & lives alone.  Occasionally though he'll get a spasm and go crazy for about 1 second.  Darting all around the bowl and acting like he's trying to drill down into the gravel.  Then he'll totally chill out as if nothing happened.

Is this normal behavior?

Hi Nathan,
  I'm not sure I would call it "normal" but I hear that a lot of bettas do it every now and then.  I don't know exactly what causes it.
