how much salt? table or sea salt?

Hi Sally,
When I answered your last question, it was 4:00 A.M. here, so went to bed, It is not 10:30 A.M. ..we must not be in the same time zone.  You will find Aquarium Salt at your pet store..(Fresh water aquarium salt)  Never use table salt as it has iodine in it.  There wasn't anything you could have done last night, but wait until morning to get his medication.  Do another water change of 30% to try to remove some of the melafix.  Another water change will help him, and add the medication when you have it.  Remove your carbon.  I also would like to mention, lights stress fish when they are sick, so it would be better not to light his tank.  All fish stress a little when we put on the aquarium lights, they go into a little shock which is why we feed them an hour after the lights are on.  For a little while, I would leave him with the light of day.  It may help him with his stress at the moment.  We must do all we can to minimize his stress.

I just wanted to add that you could use Tetracycline instead of Maracyn, and Maracyn two.  Tetracycline is a very good antibiotic if you can find it at your pet store.  Here in Canada, we must go to the vet's to get tetracycline which is so ridiculous!
