how do you know when a fish is prgant and how it looks please let me know

Hi Joann,
  Basically pregnant fish put on a lot of weight.  However, only a very few kinds of fish get pregnant, most are egg layers.  The egg layers can put on a little weight before laying eggs, but they then lay their eggs which must be fertilized immediately by a male outside the body.
 
  What kind of fish do you have?
