Bogwood

I bought a piece of bogwood from a local pet store.  From past experiences i have found the water turns yellow or red when i put the wood in the tank.  I have a new tank and want to put the bogwood in.  it has been in a bucket soaking for a week to release the 'tannins'?  Hoow long should it stay soaking before i can put it in the tank?

Hi Jack,
The tannins aren't bad unless you have a high pH or a high GH. I love the tannins in my discus tank even though they make the water brown because the help keep the water quality right. If you want to remove all tannins, it could take days or months, it's hard to know for sure.
