Birds and toxic fumes

Dear Mr. Falgout,
Can you tell me what kinds of household  products are safe to use around birds? I know furniture polishes are unsafe,so it is becoming increasingly hard to clean my house!Can you move the birds to another room while cleaning,and if so,how far away should they be and for how long? These may seem like dumb questions,but I am very worried about this. Are there any websites that have a list of safe alternatives to the usual cleaners and such? Thank you for your time.....

Yes you can move them into another room. You just don't them to be in direct contact with the fumes when it is being sprayed. You could even go into another room, spray your polish onto your rag and then go the room you want to clean and do your thing.
